“Bless You”
It is said that when someone says “bless
you”, it is meant to be polite. Thousands of years ago, the Romans would say “Jupiter
preserves you” or “slave”, which meant “good health to you”. Other people such
as the Greeks would wish each other long lives. “God bless you” was started
when Pope Gregory the Great uttered it in the sixth century. There are other
myths that your heart stops when you sneeze, which is why people say bless you
so that your soul doesn’t leave your body.
